Oreck Air Purifiers: How do they stack up? The air quality inside your house is poor; up to 100 times dirtier than the air outside! And when one breathes this poor quality air containing dust, mold spores, pollen, pet dander, smoke, and bacteria, one becomes sick with allergy symptoms, asthma, sinus issues, ear infections, headaches, nausea, and respiratory infections. In fact, there are about 50 million Americans who suffer from allergy and asthma, and this equates to millions of doctor visits per year! Did you know that allergy symptoms are the number one reason children miss school, and no one likes making up all that work.
If you are one of the millions of people looking for relief, you’re in luck . Today we are talking about air purifiers and below is a list of the most commonly purchased purifiers along with their ratings.

This article missed a few huge air purifiers for review such as Shaklee's AirSource, Honeywell's Hepa, and Ecoquest. I can see why they didn't review Ecoquest because it is on California's potentially hazardous air purifiers. I can also see why they didn't do the Honeywell's Hepa because it covers small to medium sized rooms. However, many of the brands listed above only cover a small to medium sized room also. The Shaklee air purifier, one of my favorites, is unique in that it purifies the air that we breathe for a 3000 sq ft area. That is the size of many people's home. It is also portable and is NOT listed on the California's potentially hazardous air purifiers (ie it is safe). Since it uses a photoionization bulb, its quality is 100% every day. The user only has to change the bulb 1 time a year. Furthermore, the electricity that it uses is relatively small so you also save money. Pretty simple maintenance and pretty inexpensive to purify the breathing space of 3000Sq ft. Definitely, a valid option. Obviously, Consumer Report can't review every unit on the market so my company decided to add some of the ones that we tested to the sample.
Tip: Remember to calculate your total cost (number of units needed for your home, cost of maintenance - bulbs or filters, cost to run, and health risk involved) when figuring out which unit is best for you.
